Selection Criteria, Shielding and Current Guidelines in Radiation Protection

This talk covers the essential principles and practices to ensure safety in dental practices when radiation is used. It highlights the criteria for selecting appropriate radiographs, radiation protection methods, including updates on shielding as per Current AAOMR and ADA regulations and their rationale. The discussion also reviews current guidelines and regulatory standards, emphasizing the importance of adhering to these protocols to minimize radiation exposure and protect both workers and the public.

At the end of the program, participants should be able to:

1. Understand selection criteria of radiographs in dentistry including advanced imaging based on current literature.

2. Understand the current guidelines for shielding.

3. Understand current guidelines to minimize radiation exposure to the patient and the worker.
