College of Dentistry Commencement Ceremony
Friday, May 31, 2024 3:00pm
Doors will open one hour prior to ceremony start. No tickets required. The ceremony will be livestreamed.
President Barbara Wilson will deliver the greeting. Dean Clark Stanford will deliver a welcome and message to the graduating class. Luke Hovey, of Bettendorf, Iowa, will be the student speaker. Associate Dean Sherry Timmons will present honors and awards. Faculty members Steven Means, Maria Marcela Hernández Luna, Michael Santucci, and John Syrbu will present hoods to the candidates.

The College of Dentistry Alumni Reunion Weekend is scheduled for Sept. 14-15, 2024 for class years ending in 4s and 9s.

2021 Dental Educator of the Year: Ana Diaz-Arnold

For 34 years, Dr. Ana Diaz-Arnold (’84 G.P.R., ’87 M.S.) has been a fixture in the Department of Family Dentistry, teaching countless fourth-year dental students, mentoring and working alongside adjunct faculty, and treating her own patients, and as she retires in June 2022, her impact on the college and the dental profession in Iowa will remain long afterward.

Biomedical Engineering Graduate Student Awarded NIH Grant for Dissertation Project

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) awarded Matthew Remy, a PhD student in Biomedical Engineering, a F31 grant to support his dissertation project, “Bone Regeneration Induced by the Sustained Release of Osteoinductive microRNAs from 3D-printed Constructs.”
