Professor of Pediatric Dentistry Dr. Michael Kanellis' cookbook 'Iowa Mike's Family Recipes' has provided more than $8,500 toward a fund supporting children's dental care.

Karin Weber-Gasparoni is passionate about supporting new caregivers and improving oral health for underserved populations. Her collaborative clinical research initiatives are transforming oral health care for toddlers and infants in Iowa, and are laying the foundation for changing how oral health care is provided for the youngest of us.

Dental hygienists from the University of Iowa Department of Pediatric Dentistry hosted a booth on various dental professions at the annual Career Inspire event held in Cedar Rapids.

On July 13, middle school students visited the University of Iowa College of Dentistry as part of the St. Ambrose 2022 Health Careers Adventure Camp. Campers experienced hands-on learning sessions provided by faculty, students and clinicians while learning about dental careers.

The Pediatric Dentistry Student Group recently completed a service project supported by a $1,000  grant received from the Crest and America’s Toothfairy organizations.

The National Institutes of Health awarded Karin Weber-Gasparoni and her team a $4.4 million grant to evaluate a set of interventions designed to improve oral health care and reduce the risk of cavities among low-income high-caries risk infants and young children.

On April 12, Karin Weber-Gasparoni, professor and chair of Pediatric Dentistry, was presented with the University of Iowa's Hancher-Finkbine Medallion for Faculty Excellence.
