Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU) is the national honor society serving the field of dentistry.
OKU was founded in 1914 at Northwestern University, Chicago, by Professor G.V.Black and has maintained a leadership role in academics and the profession.
Membership is conferred by a two-step process, first by the student’s attainment within the top 20% of their graduating class, then by a vote based on service and dedication to the profession. Only the top 12% of students are selected for national officer positions.
The University of Iowa’s OKU chapter is named Mu and was chartered in 1923.
