Departmental Mission

The mission of the Department of Preventive and Community Dentistry is to improve the oral and general health of the public.

We work toward this mission by:

  1. Preparing new dentists to understand the needs of and provide compassionate care for populations that experience substantial barriers to dental care or are at higher risk for oral disease,
  2. Conducting innovative Dental Public Health research, and
  3. Serving our communities by providing high quality clinical services, with an emphasis on prevention, geriatrics, and special needs dentistry, as well as leadership in professional and community-based organizations.
