The UI College of Dentistry was named the winner of two significant awards from the American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (AADOCR) National Student Research Group (NSRG). The honors highlight the college's commitment to student research and discovery.
Iowa was recognized for having the most student abstracts accepted for the 2025 AADOCR Annual Meeting and Exhibition and was awarded for having the greatest percentage of new AADOCR student members in 2024-25 relative to its dental school enrollment.
After 18 presentations in 2024, 30 College of Dentistry students will present their research at the national meeting. Additionally, Iowa's new memberships aligned with the increase in presentations, seeing 12 new student members of the AADOCR for a 9% increase relative to Iowa's total predoctoral student body of 330.
"I am incredibly proud of our students and their dedication to advancing dental research," says Teresa Marshall, professor of preventive and community dentistry and director of the Student Research Program, "These awards are a testament to their hard work and the supportive environment we strive to create at the College of Dentistry."
The awards will be presented at the AADOCR National Student Research Group Student Meeting and Awards Ceremony on Thursday, March 13, 2025, in New York City.
