Is this Cancer?
As a competent general practitioner, it is key to differentiate common lesions from oral cancer and oral potentially malignant disorders. Sometimes oral lesions present with unusual clinical findings and recur with complicated medical history and polypharmacy. It is also imperative to know when to refer. This presentation will discuss current guidelines in management of these oral lesions considering overall health of the patient.
At the completion of the program, participants should be able to:
- State the common lesions occurring in the oral cavity.
- Able to identify Oral cancer and oral potentially malignant disorders based on the clinical findings.
- Discuss differential diagnoses and treatment for these lesions.
Presenter: Nagamani Narayana MS, DMD
Dr. Narayana a professor in Oral pathology and Oral Medicine at UNMC, College of Dentistry. In addition to her training in India, Nagamani is dually trained in Oral Medicine and Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology from UMKC, School of Dentistry, Kansas City and New York Hospital, Queens. She obtained her DMD from Temple University School of Dentistry. She is a diplomate of American Academy of Oral Medicine and American Academy of Oral Pathology
