The University of Iowa College of Dentistry and Dental Clinics hosted a Give Kids A Smile (GKAS) event on Friday night, February 25, at the Iowa Children’s Museum in the Coral Ridge Mall. Thirty-two children received free oral health education, dental screenings, fluoride treatments, and they took home bags of oral hygiene supplies.

Dental providers included Department of Pediatric Dentistry faculty Ms. Cathy Skotowski, Drs. Polly Iben and Heidi Steinkamp and pediatric dentistry residents Drs. Ryan Abdelrahim, Drew te Duits, Eric Kenney and Ryan Hemsley.  Dental students who volunteered included: Sarmad Saadi, Isaac Stine, Sydney Weber, Kylie Scott, Emma Miller, Emily Starman, Michaela Mathews, Abigail Wiese, Allanna Bram, Michael Chavez, Lauren Witte, Krayton Schnepf, Spencer Wihlm, Lyndi Heldenbrand, Abhigna Akurathi, Mariah Oyen, Olivia Bartholmew, Sara Saey and Colton Curtis.  The GKAS event has always been a popular event and the children and their parents were appreciative and thankful.
