Current dental student researchers nominated student research mentors for Mentor of the Year awards. All student researchers voted on the nominations, and recipients of the award receive a plaque, and their name is added to a plaque in the Iowa Institute for Oral Health Research. 

Dr. Salahaldeen Abuhammoud, assistant professor of prosthodontics, was named the 2023-24 Student Research Mentor of the Year by the Iowa Chapter of the American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research. He was nominated by his students Jackie Yeh and Corben Masterson (shown above with Dr. Abuhammoud). This award was presented in recognition of his efforts to enhance students research at the College of Dentistry.
