During the Annual Meeting of the American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research in New York City from March 12-15, the Department of Orthodontics had several presenting students and residents, including two Hatton Award winners.
The Hatton Competition is designed for junior investigators (junior, senior and post-doctoral) who exhibit potential for a productive career in dental research. The Hatton Competition selects students based on their oral presentation with the six winners at the AADOCR Hatton Competition qualifying to compete in the IADR Hatton Competition at the 2025 IADR/PER General Session & Exhibition in Barcelona, Spain.
Congratulations to Sam Swearson and Saba Manafi for being named recipients of the Hatton Award.

- Hatton Competition 1st Place (Senior Category): Sam Swearson (Mentor: Dr. Brad Amendt)
- Hatton Competition 2nd Place (Junior Category): Saba Manafi (D3) (Mentors: Drs. Eric Van Otterloo, Aline Petrin, Shankar Venugopalan, Lina Moreno)
