The 2022 IASDA Pre-Dental Summer Academy was a great success! For three days at the end of June, a group of students from all over the country came to Iowa to learn about dental school and the application process while gaining some hands-on experience simulating life as a dental student. 

The students spent a great deal of time in Iowa's world-class simulation clinic, and received instruction from Iowa faculty members like Aditi Jain, clinical assistant professor in operative dentistry, and Karen Baker, director of dental pharmacy and associate professor of oral pathology, radiology, and medicine. Rachael Kowbel, director of admissions, gave a presentation on the admissions process for dental school.  

With students attending from Minnesota, Iowa, Arkansas, California, Missouri, Nebraska, Kansas, South Caroline, Florida, and Illinois, the academy highlighted the wide appeal of the University of Iowa College of Dentistry for students from around the country.

The academy was organized and planned by third-year dental student Catia Atienza and second-year dental student Casey Delaney. The college is grateful for your excellent work as representatives of the college and our profession.
