After completing my residency in orthodontics at Northwestern University in 1986, I began clinical teaching at Northwestern at 20% effort, rising to adjunct assistant clinical professor. My role at Northwestern ended when the dental school was closed in 2000. I then began mentoring in the department of orthodontics in 2002, and was offered a position at Iowa as adjunct associate professor in 2004. My roles at Iowa have included mentoring M.S. thesis projects, didactic teaching, clinical teaching, admissions, and preparing our residents for board certification in orthodontics. Currently, I continue these departmental efforts, and participate in the pre-doctoral curriculum as a course director, clinical consultant in the pre-doctoral pediatric dentistry clinical rotation, and as a member of the pre-doctoral curriculum committee. My areas of interest are clinical orthodontics and growth and development of the jaws.
