Purpose

The purpose of the Pre-Dental Academy is to provide 70 selected undergraduates a weekend long immersive experience under the mentorship of members of Iowa’s American Student Dental Association (IASDA). You are introduced to the field of dentistry and gain hands-on experience in the type of preclinical experiences encountered in dental school, attend presentations, and learn about the dental school admissions process.

  • Question-and-answer lunch with current dental students, who will field questions ranging from “how to prepare to apply to dental school”, "what schools did you apply to”, to “what is it like to attend dental school”.

  • DAT prep 
  • Mock admissions interviews 
  • Presentations from renowned Iowa Dentistry faculty

Financial Hardship

Applicants for whom payment of the fee presents a significant financial hardship may request a fee waiver via email to: iasda-summeracademy@uiowa.edu.
