To be honest, it was hard NOT to choose Iowa! The number one thing is I felt like they truly cared about me, even when I was only an applicant. The dental school application process can be very daunting, but the admissions office made me feel so welcome and integrated into the Hawkeye community, even from the beginning! I also love that IOWA has early clinical immersion (you get to see your first patient at the end of the first year), a super-block rotation (you are immersed in many different clinical specialties in your 3rd year), and all the students I talked to in the D4 year seemed confident and happy. Lastly, Iowa has a free counseling and tutoring program for any student. They truly care about the mental health of students, which is something I find very unique as well! I am so happy to decided to become a Hawkeye! -Jackie Yeh Hometown: Tacoma, Washington

I was drawn to Iowa for a variety of reasons. For one, Iowa has an incredible reputation for producing great dentists. To become a great dentist I wanted to learn from the best, and I knew that I would get that at Iowa. I was also impressed by the student research program and the multitude of research opportunities that are available to dental students. Thirdly, I liked that the alumni connectedness at Iowa. Dentists that graduate from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry are proud to have gone to Iowa, and continue to support the school and dental students long after they graduate. -Carter Coppinger Hometown: Van Meter, Iowa
