9:30 a.m. | Back to the Future…Endodontics
Overview: Which tooth is it? Technological advances will allow you to provide efficient and excellent endodontic care for your patients. This evidence-based lecture presentation will allow you to separate the facts from the fiction with diagnosis and treatment planning; access; isolation; locating the canal orifices.

At the end of the program, participants should be able to:

· List 15 steps of diagnosis emphasizing medical/dental history, radiographs.

· Outline the progression of access and isolation.

· Describe the role of AI.

John Olmsted, DDS, MS, is a past President of the American Association of Endodontists, and past General Chairperson of the American Dental Association 2004 Orlando, FL Meeting. He has been active in practice, teaching, lecturing, and professional dental organizations for the past 48 years. John has presented 630 days of scientific sessions with international, national, regional, state dental meetings, and dental schools. He is emeritus in a group endodontic practice in Greensboro, NC. He graduated from the University of Iowa with his DDS in 1975 and earned his MS from the University of North Carolina in 1977. He is currently an adjunct professor at Iowa and North Carolina.

10:30 a.m. | Updates on the Management of Head and Neck Cancer Patients
Overview: This course will review the short- and long-term oral complications associated with cancer therapies and risk factors for these complications. There will be discussions on evidence-based management of head and neck cancer patients before and after receiving cancer treatment

At the end of the program, participants should be able to:

· Understand the different short- and long-term oral complications associated with cancer therapies.

· Understand the risk factors associated with oral complications in HNC patients.

· Understand how to manage the head and neck cancer patient before and after receiving cancer treatment.

Michael T. Brennan, DDS, MHS graduated from University of Iowa School of Dentistry in 1995. He is currently Chair of the Department of Oral Medicine/Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center and Professor, Department of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery, Wake Forest University School of Medicine. He is currently the co-PI of OraRad - an NIH U01 grant examining the oral sequela in head and neck cancer patients treated with radiation therapy- and OraStem- a study which assessed oral sequela in patients treated with hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. He is the lead investigator of a phase I and phase II study to assess gene therapy treatment (via adeno-associated viral vector) in subjects with radiation-induced parotid gland hypofunction and xerostomia.

11:30 a.m. | Predictable Protocols for Digital Complete Dentures
Overview: This lecture will present a step-by-step digital protocol for the fabrication of complete dentures.

At the end of the program, participants should be able to:

  • Recognize the essential clinical steps required to successfully implement a digital complete denture workflow.

  • Assess the advantages and limitations of current software and materials used in digital removable prosthodontics.

Edgar Garcia, DDS, MS is a clinical assistant professor in the University of Iowa College of Dentistry’s Department of Prosthodontics. He obtained his DDS from Universidad Católica de Santiago de Guayaquil and later pursued a master's degree in Prosthodontics at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). He has extensive experience in private practice and academic roles, serving as a key opinion leader and educator in prosthodontics.
