On July 13, 25 middle school students visited the University of Iowa College of Dentistry as part of the St. Ambrose 2022 Health Careers Adventure Camp. During the week-long camp, participants were introduced to a variety of health professions. Campers experienced hands-on learning sessions provided by faculty, students and clinicians. While visiting the college, the students learned about dental careers (dentist, dental hygienist, dental assistant and dental lab technician). Students had the opportunity to take impressions of dental models and also participated in a team-based dental trivia contest. The event was coordinated by Cathy Skotowski, clinical associate professor of Pediatric Dentistry, in cooperation with the Office of Student Affairs. Three dental students also assisted with the event: third-year students Sara Saey and Catia Atienzia, and second-year student Mariah Oyen.
