This endowed award was established in 2002 through memorials and a campaign to honor Dr. McLeran’s commitment to patients, students, and faculty. The award recognizes a faculty member who has shown commitment to dental education through excellence in teaching and an emphasis on patient-centered care. Dr. Shin is a natural, dedicated and peerless teacher who exemplifies all attributes championed by this award. Dr. Shin assumed the role of Program Director of the department of Orthodontics in 2019. In this role Dr. Shin continues to elevate the program into a position of international acclaim. For the past 8 years the program has won more College of Diplomates of the American Board of Orthodontics resident competitions than any other program in North America, all attributable to the coordination, didactic and clinic teaching skill of Dr. Shin. The award was presented at the All-College Conference on August 15, 2022 and will provide $2,000 to the recipient “to be used for professional growth and faculty development”.
