Juhi Uttamani

Juhi Uttamani received a $67,000 grant for her project, "Mechanisms of immune Dysfunction in Oral Post-Acute Sequelae of Covid-19."

The study is examining immune dysfunction among COVID-19 patients with the aim of expanding our knowledge of the pathophysiology of periodontal disease in COVID-19 patients. More particularly, she and her research team will use a holistic approach to evaluate how a person's immune system is impaired and how that affects periodontal disease status for COVID-19 patients diagnosed with periodontal disease.

Uttamani is working with colleagues at the University of Illinois in Chicago under a National Institutes of Health grant.
