The Department of Family Dentistry held its annual Student Awards Luncheon on May 23 to celebrate accomplishments and achievements of it's students. 

The department presented 12 awards and honored 15 students. 

American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry Student Award of Merit - Ms. Elizabeth G. Linder 
Introduced by Dr. Chris Barwacz, DEO and Associate Professor in the Department of Family Dentistry and presented by Dr. John Syrbu, Assistant Professor and Group Leader in the Department of Family Dentistry 

American Association of Endodontists Student Achievement in Endodontics Award – Ms. Brooke Frazier Introduced and presented by Dr. Manuel Gómez, Associate Professor in the Department of Endodontics and Director of D4 Endodontics in the Department of Family Dentistry 

Brasseler USA Award – Ms. Maria T. Eseverri 
Introduced by Dr. Steven Means, Group Leader and Associate in the Department of Family Dentistry. Presented by Mr. Scott O’Conner, Brasseler USA District Manager 

Dr. Duane Schmidt Practice Management Awards – 1st prize: Mr. Andrew Yowell; 2nd prize: Mr. Logan Brown; 3rd prize: Ms. Anne Tigges. Introduced and presented by Dr. John Syrbu, Group Leader and Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Dentistry and Director of Practice Management Education

Dr. John C. Kois Prize in Clinical Excellence Award – Ms. Jenna M. Stewart

Dr. James Michael Leary Memorial Award – Ms. Catia K. Atienza 
Introduced by Dr. Chris Barwacz, DEO and Associate Professor in the Department of Family Dentistry. Presented by Dr. Michael Santucci, Assistant Professor and Group Leader in the Department of Family Dentistry and members of the Leary family: Mrs. Karolyn Leary, wife of Dr. Mike Leary, Dr. Kecia Leary, daughter of Dr. Leary and Ben and Mikaela Vogel, grandchildren of Dr. Leary. 

Senior Student Excellence in Patient Care Award - Ms. Brooke Frazier 
Introduced and presented by Dr. Alberto Gasparoni, Associate Professor, Dental Clinic Administration. A certificate is awarded to a senior dental student who contributed to a compassionate and professional environment for patients and staff. The recipient consistently went above and beyond expectations to ensure patient comfort and respect during urgent and emergency care. 

Senior Student Excellence in Urgent Care Award – Ms. Daphne M. Hoefler 
Introduced and presented by Dr. Alberto Gasparoni, Associate Professor, Dental Clinic Administration. A certificate is awarded to a senior dental student who contributed to all aspects of patients needs by providing urgent care with diligence, thoroughness, and attention to detail. 

International College of Dentists Humanitarian Award – Ms. Shanee Haberman 
This award is given to a student who exemplified and demonstrated passion for altruistic humanitarian service as a dental student. Introduced and presented by Dr. Alberto Gasparoni, Associate Professor, Dental Clinic Administration 

International College of Dentists Leadership Award – Ms. Krayton Struve 
This award is given to a student who demonstrated leadership as a dental student and future leadership potential. Introduced and presented by Dr. Alberto Gasparoni, Associate Professor, Dental Clinic Administration
