Dr. Clark Stanford, Dean of the University of Iowa College of Dentistry and Dental Clinics has officially transitioned to the role of Immediate Past President of Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU), National Honor Dental Society. The announcement was made at the organization's General Business Meeting on March 9, 2025.
Stanford, who previously served as the Supreme Chapter President for one year, will now fulfill a one-year term as Immediate Past President.
Omicron Kappa Upsilon, founded in 1914 by Professor G.V. Black at Northwestern University in Chicago, is a prestigious honor society recognizing the top 12% of graduating dental students. Achieving leadership positions in OKU reflects substantial service and dedication to both the profession and society.
Stanford has a long history of commitment to dentistry, earning his BS, DDS, Prosthodontics certification, and PhD from the University of Iowa. He holds the distinction of being named the college’s first endowed faculty position as the Centennial Research Professor. Additionally, Stanford is a fellow of both the International College of Dentists and the American College of Dentists, and maintains active memberships in prominent dental organizations including the Illinois State Dental Society, American Dental Education Association, American College of Prosthodontics, International Association for Dental Research/American Association for Dental Research, and the American Dental Association.
