Dr. Brian Mykleby (’81 DDS, ’85 ENDO, ’85 MS) was honored with the prestigious Calvin D. Torneck Part-Time Educator Award by the American Association of Endodontists (AAE) during the Edgar D. Coolidge Brunch at AAE25 in Boston, Massachusetts, on April 5, 2025.
The Calvin D. Torneck Award recognizes individuals whose exceptional careers have significantly contributed to leadership, education, service, and research in endodontics, particularly emphasizing the invaluable role part-time educators play in shaping the future of the specialty.

With over four decades of combined clinical practice and educational service, Mykleby has significantly influenced the next generation of endodontists. He has maintained a private practice specializing in endodontics in Davenport, Iowa, since 1989 and serves as an Associate Adjunct Professor at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry.
Drawing inspiration from his earlier experiences as a competitive swimmer, Mykleby emphasizes perseverance, hard work, and the importance of unlocking individual potential in his teaching and mentorship. His dedication and unique perspective continue to enrich his students’ educational journeys, leaving a lasting impact on both his colleagues and the endodontic community.
