On May 30th, the Iowa American Student Dental Association (IASDA) hosted its highly anticipated annual Talent Show at the Coralville Center for the Performing Arts, bringing together students, faculty, and community members for an evening filled with laughter, music, and outstanding performances.
Organized by IASDA social chairs Ann Luo and Alexis Gravagna, the event celebrated the talents within the dental community. Guiding the evening with humor and enthusiasm were the masters of ceremonies, Dr. Karen Baker and Dr. Michael Kanellis, who kept the energy high, and the audience entertained throughout the evening.
The judges for the event were Dean Sherry Timmons, Dr. Edgar Garcia, and Dr. John Warren.
The acts included:
- Faculty member Dr. Pete Damiano's band HomeBrewed, who played a blues medley.
- A piano solo by Danielle Dadisman - Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata 3rd movement
- Hannah Johnson and her dog, Ziggy, who performed a series of tricks.
- A piano duet by Keshav Wagle and his older brother, Rishi - "CS Theme and Variations" by Randall Compton
- Story time from Jeffrey Abraham
- Lynn Conway's piano solo - Rachmaninoff Prelude in D Major, Op. 23 No. 4 for piano
- Matthew Narvaez' signing solo - a dashboard confessional - A Reason to Believe
- Caleb Peters' piano solo - "First Time"
- Veronica McClennan and Meagan Blomgren singing Defying Gravity from Wicked.
- A D2 video called "I'm Passing the Phone..."
The evening culminated in the announcement of Faculty of the Year awards, recognizing exceptional contributions by the College of Dentistry faculty. Dr. Sandra Cunha earned the prestigious Faculty of the Year Award, while honorable mentions went to Dr. Victor Feitosa and Dr. Fran Floriani.

- D2 Faculty of the Year: Dr. Nidi Handoo, with honorable mentions Dr. Mai El Najjar and Dr. Salahaldeen Abuhammoud.
- D3 Faculty of the Year: Dr. Sally Roushdy, with honorable mention Dr. Mickey Spector and intern of the year Dr. Landen Kirby, and resident honorable mention Dr. Grant McCaulley.
- D4 FAMD Faculty of the Year: Dr. Michael Santucci, and adjunct faculty honoree Dr. Mary Duffy.
