The University of Iowa College of Dentistry and Dental Clinics is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Kyungsup Shin as Departmental Executive Officer (DEO) of the Department of Orthodontics, effective July 1, 2026. The college would like to thank Dr. Lina Moreno for five years of service leading the Department of Orthodontics as well as Dr. Cris Vidal, who chaired the search committee for Moreno's successor.

Dr. Shin is a Professor in the department and has served the College with distinction as Graduate Program Director for Orthodontics and as Clinical Research Director. An accomplished clinician–scientist and educator, he brings extensive experience in academic leadership, research, and resident education.

In 2023, Shin was named the Ross D. Christensen Family Professor of Orthodontics in recognition of his excellence in research, teaching, clinical care, and his service to the profession. Shin is a 2015 graduate of Iowa's orthodontics program.

The college is confident that Shin’s vision, collaborative leadership style, and deep commitment to excellence will further strengthen the Department of Orthodontics and advance the mission of the College.
