Current dental student researchers nominated student research mentors for Mentor of the Year awards. All student researchers voted on the nominations, and recipients of the award receive a plaque, and their name is added to a plaque in the Iowa Institute for Oral Health Research. 

Dr. Teresa Marshall, director of the Dental Student Research Group at the University of Iowa and the Finkelstein Centennial Professor of Teaching, was named the 2025-26 Student Research Mentor of the Year by the Iowa Chapter of the American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research. She was nominated by her student, third-year dental student, Katy Volz (shown above with Dr. Marshall). This award was presented in recognition of her efforts to enhance students research at the College of Dentistry.
