The University of Iowa College of Dentistry and Dental Clinics hosted an international delegation from the College of Dentistry at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Oct. 7-9.
Dr. Rahaf Al-Mohareh, dean of the College of Dentistry at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, and Dr. Hala Ragab, professor of restorative dentistry and director of strategic planning, visited Iowa to meet with college leadership and faculty and explore opportunities to expand collaboration between the two dental colleges and universities. Al-Mohareh is also a professor in the Department of Clinical Dental Sciences with expertise in endodontics. Ragab’s academic work includes restorative and esthetic dentistry, curriculum development, quality assurance, accreditation, and the integration of artificial intelligence into dental education and clinical practice.
The visit is being hosted by Dr. Clark Stanford, dean of the University of Iowa College of Dentistry and Dental Clinics, and Dr. Salahaldeen Abuhammoud, assistant professor in the Department of Prosthodontics and director of digital clinics.
During the three-day visit, the delegation met with faculty and administrators across the college to discuss research collaboration, digital dentistry and simulation, curriculum assessment, quality assurance, accreditation, student affairs, and clinical education. The visitors also met with faculty in operative dentistry, family dentistry, preventive and community dentistry, and oral pathology, radiology and medicine.
The visit included a tour of Iowa’s digital dentistry and simulation facilities as well as discussions about opportunities for future academic and research partnerships.
Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University is located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and its College of Dentistry includes faculty and programs spanning clinical dental sciences, dental education, research, and patient care. Al-Mohareh has served as dean since 2024 after previously holding leadership roles in academic affairs and clinical training.
