...very friendly, efficient and kind

"The staff from the receptionist to the dentist was very friendly, efficient, and kind. I am not a fan of going to the dentist, but the [UI College of Dentistry] makes it a pleasant experience."

Services

Biopsy Service

Our Oral Pathology Laboratory processes and evaluates biopsy specimens from the head & neck region. Through the expertise of our faculty and staff, we provide accurate and timely diagnoses that support effective patient care, including the early detection of oral and head & neck cancers.

Clinical Oral Pathology

Our providers diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions affecting the mouth and jaws, including burning mouth syndrome, oral infections, autoimmune and mucosal diseases, and TMJ disorders. We also perform oral soft-tissue biopsies to help diagnose oral health conditions.

Pharmacy

Our on-site pharmacy makes it easy to fill prescriptions before leaving the building. We accept prescriptions from dental and medical providers, including providers outside the College of Dentistry, and offer mail delivery services to patients across Iowa.

We also provide consultations to Alumni and dental providers across the United States. Our clinical pharmacists can be reached at 319-335-7435 or dental-pharmacy@uiowa.edu

Radiation Monitoring

To assure radiation safety throughout the College of Dentistry, our dental radiation safety officer monitors the radiation exposure of over 300 faculty and staff while also instructing our learners in proper radiographic techniques to ensure quality and minimize exposure to patients and providers.

Radiology Consultants

We provide comprehensive radiology reports to dental providers based in Iowa and across the country. Images are thoroughly reviewed by one of our Oral and Maxillofacial Radiologists, and the providers are notified when reports are ready. The cases can even be discussed with our Radiologists via web teleconferencing and phone.

Sterilizer Monitoring

Our Sterilizer Monitoring Service processes more than 70,000 tests each year to help dental and healthcare practices confirm that their sterilization equipment is working properly. This service supports infection prevention and patient safety for more than 1,000 practices across the country.
