For the second year in a row, the University of Iowa College of Dentistry and Dental Clinics Student Research Group has been named the recipient of the American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (AADOCR) National Student Research Group (NSRG) contest for having the most student abstracts accepted for presentation at the 2026 International Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (IADR)/AADOCR/Council for Dental Research (CADR) General Session and Exhibition taking place in San Diego later this month.

The recognition highlights the college’s strong culture of student scholarship and research excellence. This is the second year in a row that Iowa has won this award and third time in its history. Furthermore, Iowa Dentistry is widely recognized for having one of the nation’s leading student research programs.

Iowa faculty member Teresa Marshall, assisted by Eric Van Otterloo leads the program, mentoring students as they develop, submit, and present their work on a national stage. Under their leadership, Iowa students consistently demonstrate exceptional engagement and achievement in oral health research.

The college will be formally recognized during the AADOCR National Student Research Group (NSRG) Student Meeting and Awards Ceremony held in conjunction with the 2026 IADR/AADOCR/CADR General Session and Exhibition. The meeting will take place Thursday, March 26, 2026, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. (PT), where representatives will receive a certificate commemorating the achievement.

Faculty, students, and colleagues are encouraged to attend the AADOCR NSRG Business Meeting and represent the University of Iowa during the national event.
