After a national search, the University of Iowa College of Dentistry and Dental Clinics is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Danielle Wingrove as the college's next Department Executive Officer in the Department of Endodontics, starting July 2026.
"We are excited for this new chapter in endodontics at Iowa," says Dean Clark Stanford, "I want to thank Dr. Leo Marchini, for his role as interim chair, and the search committee for their efforts in leading a thorough and detailed search for the department's next leader."
Wingrove is a board-certified endodontist and a proud UI alumna, earning her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Iowa in 2004. Following her graduation, she served as a general dentist in the U.S. Navy for three years before completing her endodontic residency at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) in 2009. After nearly a decade in private practice in Waterloo, Iowa, she transitioned to academia at OHSU and most recently served as the Assistant Dean of Curriculum and Section Head of Endodontics at the University of Utah School of Dentistry.
In addition to her clinical expertise, Wingrove is a scholar of dental education, having earned her Ed.D. in Health Professions Education from A.T. Still University in 2024. Her research focuses on enhancing student learning outcomes through evidence-based methodologies and supporting the career trajectories of junior faculty. Wingrove is excited to return to the institution that launched her career and is looking forward to fostering the next generation of Hawkeye dental professionals through innovation, mentorship, and clinical excellence.
