Dr. Danielle Wingrove, department executive officer in the Department of Endodontics at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry and Dental Clinics, has been appointed the Richard E. Walton Professor of Endodontics.

The five-year appointment is effective July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2031. Wingrove will hold the title of Richard E. Walton Clinical Associate Professor of Endodontics.

The Richard E. Walton Professorship of Endodontics has recognized faculty leadership in the Department of Endodontics for more than two decades. Dr. William Johnson served as the inaugural Walton Endodontics Professor for eight years, followed by Dr. Fabricio Teixeira, who assumed the position in 2014. Wingrove’s appointment continues the professorship’s tradition of supporting leadership, scholarship, and excellence in endodontic education and care.

Wingrove joined the college as department executive officer in the Department of Endodontics in June 2026. A board-certified endodontist and University of Iowa alumna, she earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery from Iowa in 2004. Following graduation, she served as a general dentist in the U.S. Navy for three years before completing her endodontic residency at Oregon Health & Science University in 2009.

In addition to her clinical expertise, Wingrove is a scholar of dental education. She earned her Ed.D. in Health Professions Education from A.T. Still University in 2024. Her research focuses on enhancing student learning outcomes through evidence-based methodologies and supporting the career trajectories of junior faculty.
