The Smigel Scholar Program is a national mentorship and scholarship initiative established in honor of ASDA founder Dr. Irwin Smigel, who was internationally recognized as the “Father of Aesthetic Dentistry.” The program recognizes promising early-career dentists who demonstrate a commitment to advancing excellence in aesthetic and restorative dentistry.

Smigel Scholars are nominated by dental leaders and educators and receive a fully funded opportunity to attend the ASDA Annual Conference. During the conference, scholars participate in lectures presented by internationally recognized clinicians, hands-on workshops, mentorship opportunities, and networking with leaders in aesthetic and restorative dentistry.

Lee’s selection provides an opportunity to expand his knowledge of interdisciplinary aesthetic care while representing the University of Iowa’s Periodontics Program at a national conference.
