The University of Iowa Orthodontics Department congratulates Dr. Aline Petrin on her Mentor of the Year nomination. Dr. Aline Petrun currently serves as an Assitant Professor and holds many awards and honors for her contributions to the department. Dental Student, Amanda Seaberg, nominated Dr. Petrin because of her commitment to furthering epigenetic research and leaving a remarkable impact on her students' learning.

Dr. Emma Mueldener has joined the faculty team in the Orthodontics Department. After completing her undergraduate, masters, and oral science degrees at the University of Iowa, the clinic is excited to welcome her as a full-time clinical assistant professor.

The Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) awarded Hongli Sun, Kyungsup Shin, and their co-principal investigator a $235K Interdisciplinary Scholars grant for their project investigating a novel approach to to orofacial cleft reconstruction.

In January 2023, Iowa orthodontics faculty published Practical Early Orthodontic Treatment: A Case-Based Review. The text is receiving rave reviews and is sure to become the definitive textbook in the orthodontic treatment of children.
