Current dental student researchers nominated student research mentors for Mentor of the Year awards. All student researchers voted on the nominations, and recipients of the award receive a plaque, and their name is added to a plaque in the Iowa Institute for Oral Health Research. 

Dr. Jennifer Sukalski, assistant professor of preventive and community dentistry, was named the 2024-25 Student Research Mentor of the Year by the Iowa Chapter of the American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research. She was nominated by her fourth-year dental student James Beyer (shown above with Dr. Sukalski). This award was presented in recognition of his efforts to enhance students research at the College of Dentistry.
