    In recent years, collegiate alumni or former faculty have included one university president, five Big Ten dental deans, three ADA trustees, three ADEA presidents,  and an IADR president. In addition, over 80% of Iowa Dental Association presidents are our alumni.

    Nearly 80% of Iowa's dentists are alumni of the University of Iowa College of Dentistry delivering over $800 million in oral health care services to Iowans annually. An estimated 99% of Iowans are within a 30-minute drive of a practicing University of Iowa alumnus.

Catherine Miller-Geroy and Gary Geroy establish endowed prosthodontics chair

In one of the largest gifts in the history of the University of Iowa College of Dentistry and Dental Clinics, Catherine Miller-Geroy and Gary Geroy have made a commitment to endow a chair in the Department of Prosthodontics in honor of Miller-Geroy’s father, Dr. Thaxter “Thax” Miller (’54 MS, ’54 PROS).

Hanny arrived at His Hands Dental Clinic in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with many teeth that were unrestorable or infected. Dr. Jeffrey Akey ('87 DDS) and six volunteer UI dental students came together to give Hanny her smile back.
